I was raised to never say "hate" because it is such a harsh word BUT I must say I HATE when I see a fellow human throw a cigarette butt out of their car window! Go ahead! Smoke your poison! Smoke until your hooked up to your destined breathing machine while you lay there still wanting a cigarette! BUT PLEASE STOP using our planet as your personal ashtray! It's disturbing in so many ways and for so many reasons including the ugly fact that you have no respect for mankind or our beautiful planet. Littering in any form is wrong and illegal!
WHAT IF all your neighbors started dumping their garbage on YOUR lawn? You pull up to your home every day just to find more trash! What if you actually caught someone in the action? You can't deny that you would have every right to be angry and to take action! Why should you have to put up with this despicable behavior and pick up another person's trash? There really is no difference in a wrongly discarded cigarette butt or a 20 lb. bag of rancid garbage. It's all TRASH and should be disposed of properly!
I think it's safe to say ALL vehicles come with an ashtray and I would like to know the underlying reason as to WHY these ignorant people don't use their ashtray knowing it's safer and the right thing to do. Is it just pure laziness on their part, not wanting to empty and clean it eventually? Or could it be that it's just too full already? Either way, I can guarantee as soon as that cigarette butt leaves their fingers it's forgotten about before it bounces off the ground!
In many states it is illegal and there are serious fines involved for littering a cigarette butt! This should be adopted nation wide and we should be able to report these less than selfish individuals to the authorities. YES, I know there are worse things to be cautious of BUT the reason they continue to dispose of their cigarette butts when ever and where ever is because they have not been reprimanded for it! I think an appropriate punishment would be to have them pay a chunky fine AND to hold as many cigarette butts (that will fit) in their mouth for as many minutes as their current age! Of course these cigarette butts would be collected from the nearest streets, roads and highways : ) They may get lucky and get a mouthful of their own butts!
I'm well aware that the guilty smokers that have spread their love of smoking all over our streets, roads and highways will attempt to justify their actions and see me as a pathetic bitch that needs a hobby! News flash! This IS my hobby! I do have a full time job that I'm very passionate about and I have a life that includes gaining and sharing knowledge to enhance my life and those of others. It's bad enough I have to be subjected to your second hand smoke in public places, including at a stop light when you choose to smoke with your windows down instead of keeping your smoke to yourself with your windows up! I'm sickened by the thought of sharing our planet with these people!
Now that I have accomplished gaining followers that will agree and some will agree to disagree, my simple wish is for every person that has ever thrown a cigarette butt anywhere other than in an ashtray, shall one day wake up with all their "butts" in bed with them!
